This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week from November 1 to 7. Contact your local animal shelter and tell them “Great job” or visit the shelter and adopt a pet!! Only 10 percent of dogs and cats owned are rescues from the 63 percent of households that have pets. I was shocked to read this! There are between 6 to 8 million homeless animals each year that are brought to the animal shelters. Rescued animals really appreciate being able to have a forever home and are loving companions.

By adopting a dog or cat from a shelter, the pet will be neutered/spayed before taking him/her home. After I rescued my pups from a Texas animal shelter, they honored the rescue by giving FREE pet registrations for the life of the pet. You should check with your county to see if they give free pet registrations to shelter animals. The best advantage to adopting a shelter pet is that you save a LIFE!!
