  • The "Children of Ludlow"

    from Southern Rockies Nature Blog

    Saturday April 19th, 2014 at 06:00 AM

One of my colleagues from the university recently referred to the students as "children of Ludlow, " claiming by analogy that they were being "massacred" by CSU system budget cuts. It might not be the best analogy, though, if the reader has to look up the source that is unfamiliar. And I bet that 95 percent of Coloradans overall could not tell you what happened on April 20th, one hundred years ago. The term "children of Ludlow" has a difference resonance for me. For several years, a colleague...

  • Secret Meetings and Glorified Squares of Cardboard

from Catladyland -- Cats are Funny: The Blog

    Saturday April 19th, 2014 at 05:07 AM

I think I busted up a secret meeting yesterday. I walked into the kitchen to find Phoebe and Cosmo looking at each other, obviously engaged in some sort of clandestine activity. When they saw me, they pretended like they were never communicating. They are bad liars. Also, I just want to point out how Phoebe claimed the box which barely has sides to it. It's more like a glorified square of cardboard. She doesn't care ... it's a box. Sort of.

Square_140_faradaypress How did we create last Sunday's "Faraday the Intrepid Reporter," anyway? It's a technique known as compositing. The first thing we did was search for a fedora on Flickr that had a Creative Commons 3.0 license with permission to alter the photo. We did this by using Flickr's advanced search option, scrolling down to the bottom and selecting this: Once we had our hat (yeah, some guy was wearing it), we cut it out using Photoshop's lasso tool. Then we had to find a photo of Faraday that looked...

Here is my standard run. I didn't get a Q this run because I missed my down contact on the dog walk. I never do this so mom had to ask someone what I did wrong, BOL.

Here is my Jumper run. Didn't Q because I think dad was drunk and sent me off course (around the jump) oops!

Cameron: This week it's my turn to be the model for our art. Do I know how to pose or what?Sam: What?Cyndi: I think that was a rhetorical question, Sam. He wasn't going to tell you what ... whatever.Micah: In plan wordage, he was bragging about his pose. Cameron: This is the original picture we're going to work with this weekend. I kind of shocked Jan that day because I was
