A cat named George was severely burnt during Halloween. His face and paws were charred. His eyes were shut by his wounds, so at the time no one knew if his eyes were still intact. When he was sent to a clinic, an area veterinarian was not sure if he would be able to survive the ordeal, let alone regaining his vision. The vicious act of animal cruelty left the cat disfigured. The vet had to remove parts of the cat’s ears in order to prevent infections.
Though no one was convinced that George would be able to survive because his life was hanging on by mere threads, George defied all odds. Not only did he get better in the past three weeks, his wounds are still healing, his eyes are open and he is playful as ever.
Though many people have expressed interest in adopting this little feline, the Toledo Area Humane Society is not sure if they will put George up for adoption. They are considering keeping George as a mascot to show people what animal cruelty can do to these creatures.
Below is a video report on the news. WARNING: the injury shown in the video is very graphic.

Stories of animal cruelty sicken me, so it's good to know that there are people out there who feel the same way. And when they see examples of inhumane treatment of pets, they're ready to leap into action.
Not just in the U.S., either. In Lithuania, a 22-year-old man posted a video of himself throwing a dog off a bridge, then posted it online. Outraged Internet uses who saw the video helped police identify the man, who was arrested and faces a year in jail on animal cruelty charges.
The dog, named Pipiras (Lithuanian for "pepper"), is expected to survive the 20-foot fall, despite suffering several fractures and internal injuries. His owner, Petras Dunskaitis, told a newspaper, "He's lived with me for four or five years. He didn't deserve such a fate."
According to local reports, the man believed the dog was responsible for killing several of his mother's chickens. In the video, he's shown holding the dog over a bridge railing and laughing as a friend records the scene with his cell phone.
The man then makes a joke about dogs flying and drops him. Pipiras crashes to the ground and is shown yelping and twitching. The video was originally posted on a site, but it spread globally and even made it to Facebook, where a group calling itself the "Lithuanian Dog Support Group" helped police locate the man.
Unbelievable, right? Animal cruelty knows no bounds, and as pet lovers we should always be aware that there are people who think nothing of harming animals.
We should always be aware of this and be on the lookout.
Nathan App was sentenced in Montgomery County Court in Pennsylvania to five years of probation and 60 hours of community service after trying to drown a woman’s dachshund in a backyard swimming pool.
Under a plea agreement, App, 20, of Douglass Township, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals.
“His conduct was disgusting. It was a small, helpless dog. He was basically torturing the dog by repeatedly dunking the dog in water and dragging it by its leash in the water,” Assistant District Attorney Abby Silverman said of the July incident.
Judge William R. Carpenter, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, also ordered App to undergo a psychological evaluation, and prohibited App from owning any animals, according to an article in the Delaware County Daily Times.
App apparently has a history with the dog’s owner — a previous court order had prohibited him from having any contact with her. Apparently, her dog was another matter.
The dog’s owner, who rushed the dog to a veterinarian for treatment after the incident, told police she was alerted to the attempted drowning by her neighbors who had witnessed the cruelty.
Two neighbors reported they observed App pull the dog by a leash into the pool area and then throw the dog into the water, according to the arrest affidavit. One witness claimed App tossed the dog into the air and watched the dog land in the pool, then repeatedly dunked the dog under the water.
Neighbors yelled at App and he pulled the dog out of the water, police said.
The dachshund survived.

(Frederick News-post) A cat named Sparkles lived as a domesticated indoor cat for nine years until his owner decided to turn him into an outdoor cat outside his new home. The man, Gregory Moser, 30, was eventually convicted of four counts of animal cruelty in Frederick County District Court.
Sparkles was severely emaciated due to extreme dehydration and hypothermia after being let loose outside for a month. When he was rescued by Animal Control, he weighed only 4 pounds where his normal weight should have been in the 10 – 12 pound range.
The outside temperature was below freezing. Moser and his wife made frequent trips to visit Sparkles before they moved into the new house. He built a makeshift like structure and placed some bedding inside for the cat. However, Moser stopped seeing the cat after he saw carcasses of birds in the area, assuming the cat was fending for himself.
When Sparkles was found, he seemed to have been starved for at least 7 – 14 days. There was no sight of food and water in the location. No trace of food was found in his digestive tract. His ears showed signs of frostbite.
Though Sparkles’ condition was so severe, he managed to survive under the care of Animal Control and later was fostered by a family.
If charged with animal cruelty, one can carry up to 90 days in prison and a $1,000 fine.

(WARNING: This video is graphic and disturbing)
A man in Lithuania who arranged to have himself filmed throwing a dog over the side of a bridge — and then posted the video online — was forced to turn himself in today after internet groups tracked him down and outed him.
The video, posted on Lithuanian websites, quickly spread across the Internet, prompting Facebook groups and others to call for him to be brought to justice.
The film, which appeared to have been taken from a mobile phone, showed the man carrying the dog to the side of the bridge. He speaks to the camera, making jokes about the videotaping, and how it will prove dogs can fly, while the dog rests calmly in his arms. Then he nonchalantly drops the dog over the side of the bridge.
The dog survived the fall and its whimpers can be heard on the video.
Outraged viewers on Lithuanian websites and international sites such as Reddit.com chased after the man’s identity, and police, with help from web users, determined the dog was dropped from a bridge in the Vilkija district in the city of Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania.
Police said a website they identified as www.15.min.lt was instrumental in identifying the man as Svajunas Beniuk.
The dog was rescued, received treatment for multiple fractures and internal injuries and was expected to survive. Beniuk was expected to be charged with animal cruelty, according to MailOnline.
