The rare smalleye stingray was recently caught on film by the BBC (video below). Seldom seen, this giant stingray can attain 7 feet across! Amazingly enough for an animal this size, their camouflage allows them to blend in perfectly with the seafloor - I was lucky enough to catch one on video purely by accident when filming the seafloor in Belize. I didn't realize I had swam 6 inches from a giant stingray until I watched the video! Share: © Captive Aquatics™ / Captive Aquatics™ Blog / Sponsor Info
Reminding me of lectures during my undergrad in marine bio, this is a neat (if long) video lecture by Dr. Todd LaJeunesse about algae and the molecular techniques he invented for/during his research.
Not as fancy-schmancy as their new "G Series", but the FX-5 gets the job done, and has been the staple of high-bioload freshwater aquariums for a while now (cichlid enthusiast know all about 'em!). We use these bad boys on all of the large freshwater aquariums we install, and they work great. Without further ado (and complete with the 'movie-guy' voice!): Share: © Captive Aquatics™ / Captive Aquatics™ Blog / Sponsor Info
The title says it all, almost: a video collage of pictures of some of the most stunning freshwater nature aquarium layouts from all over the world! Share: © Captive Aquatics™ / Captive Aquatics™ Blog / Sponsor Info
Gotta love the cheesy 'movie guy' voice acting, but the filters look useful for vivariums and reptile aquariums. I'll talk to my Fluval rep tomorrow to see about a review, and meanwhile, video below: Share: © Captive Aquatics™ / Captive Aquatics™ Blog / Sponsor Info
