It was 18 degrees in Oklahoma last week. Not at all suited for winter outside, 49 puppies and small dogs were exposed to wind and rain and struggling to survive frigid November temperatures. Housed only in wire hutches, their water was frozen; the mothers malnourished; the puppies battling each other to suckle. Today these Chihuahuas, Pekinese, Pugs, and Pomeranians are in the warm, loving care of the Humane Society of Missouri.
Last Friday, we helped the Grove Humane Society in Oklahoma rescue them all from a substandard puppy mill. The Humane Society of Missouri was called because we were the most capable organization that could respond immediately, save these poor dogs from freezing and starvation; give them desperately needed veterinary care, warm shelter, plenty of good food; and find them loving homes.

We can do all that because you care. We already have many animals desperately seeking a home for the holidays, but could not turn away these helpless and suffering dogs. Please make a gift to help them recover and keep them safe and warm while they wait for new homes.
This will truly be their best Thanksgiving ever.
Kindest regards,
Kathryn W. Warnick
President
Humane Society of Missouri

Petland is attacking the Humane Society for exposing them on a national level. To most pet advocates I don't think it's any big news that Petland is one of the worst pet store chains out there.
I guess the video isn't working. So check it out on their website:

Cynthia got a wild hair up her butt and decided to attack and shred some of my paperwork today.
Crazy ass cat...
President-elect Barack Obama is working to fill key positions in his administration, among them the Secretary of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture has a tremendous impact on the treatment of animals and the enforcement of a broad range of laws—including those covering puppy mills, humane slaughter, animal fighting, and food safety.
Please urge President-elect Barack Obama to appoint a Secretary of Agriculture who takes animal protection and consumer issues as seriously as issues confronting farm producers.
At least she was sleeping by me instead of ON me or ON the laptop.
