We have these in St Louis too and I always had my doubts about the treatment of the horses. I've never been in a horse drawn carriage and I don't think I ever will be now.
While the charges are not has serious as most of know they should be, it's a start.
PuppyJustice.com has the full story on the charges filed again Marjorie and Richard Sundberg

THANKFULLY the reports of 80% of the nearly 700 dogs confiscated being pregnant is inaccurate. Reports now state that fewer than 20 are pregnant. That is a SMALL relief in this scandal.
The first person busted in this raid admitted he was making 2 million dollars a year off his dogs. He was the bottom rung of this organization of puppy millers that appears to be headed up by Renee Roske, owner of Wags n Wiggles. Her mother and sister were also involved. When caught the man was in fear for his life for being the first thread to come unravelled in this multi million dollar operation.
I am getting many requests for information on how to go about adopting or fostering these dogs. I don't have any direct information to offer you beyond what has been posted below or on Puppy Justice.
I do not have any further contact information in regards to adopting or fostering any of these dogs. Please bear in mind there is an investigation being conducted which means each animal has to be documented after being examined by a vet. This is an ongoing process. The dogs will also have to be screened to see if they are candidates for adoption. Some dogs that spend their entire lives in a small cage with no human interaction develop psychological problems on top of their physical problems. Some are simply too sick.
Make donations to assist the dogs seized from the recent puppy mill raids -
Everett Animal Shelter recieved 155 dogs from the Gold Bar raid on 1/16/2009 and at least 3 puppies have been born since the raid.
Needs:
1) Donate towels or blankets to be used as bedding for the dogs.
2) Donate money to the shelter for laundry service and medical care. Send donations to the shelter or drop it by during operating hours. At this time donations are only accepted by mail, the shelter address is: 2732 36th Street, Everett, WA 98201.
Saving Pets One at a Time (S.P.O.T.) is now saving a lot more than that! Mt Vernon raids on 1/22/2009 and 1/23/2009 resulted in a total of approximately 443 dogs being placed in their care within 2 days time, they have their hands extremely full and need all the help they can get.

Have you ever not donated to a worthy cause simply because you don't feel you can give enough to make a difference? I know we are all financially strapped right now and that giving is an added burden. This site averages 350 visits a week. If each person who visits the site each week donated only $5.00 we could raise $1750.00. That is a huge donation! $5.00 a week out of my budget means I skip my once a week visit to Starbucks, or I bring my lunch every day. Those are very small sacrifices.
Other ways to donate:
Sell some items on eBay and send the proceeds to your favorite cause.
Open a Squidoo lens and donate your earnings to your favorite charity.
