 This is the worst news ever! Teresa JUST started working again after being out of work for a couple months. I just started a new job after a lay off and now my boyfriend is laid off and looking for work. :pullhair: Raising the $500.00 (minimum) to cover his treatment is going to take some real magic. We need $300.00 just to get him started. I put up a widget in the sidebar where you can donate to help out. This is a Paypal system so its secure. I know things are tight for everyone out there right now. Even 5.00 would help us out.

Chance is about 2 years old, recently neutered and has a bad tooth. Seems to be in good health otherwise. He had his check up and shots today.

Teresa says he is getting better and his only accident in the house was her fault for not taking him out on time. He still does not like to be looked at or approached but he follows her closely and when she works he lies nearby to watch her. He is walking well on the leash but still fights the stairs. She said he often gives her the play bow but when she tries to play with him he runs off. LOL He's a little conflicted. He is sleeping in his crate at night and even started to vocalize.

Here are some more pics she sent me of him:

Today we took the little boy to Petsmart with us to pick up a new bed, choke collar and harness...and of course some treats. :eat: He did surprising well walking on the leash in the store. We took him to Teresa's house and she realized the bed was ripped. We gave her the receipt so she could return it. We got the little boy set up with his crate and some blankets. So far he has not made a single noise other than a little grunt when he fights the leash. No barking or whining. For being so scared he hasn't even tried to nip or bite. He and Sissy had a minor scuffle over some left over hamburger but Sissy started it. :lecture:

Just a little bit ago Teresa called me on her way back from Petsmart. It seems she ran into a woman who had also seen this little guy on the road!! She and her girlfriend had tried to catch him and were worried sick over him. Animal control is the one who left the bag of food out there. They were supposed to be setting a live trap as well but hadn't done so. She was very relieved to hear that he had been rescued safe and sound. I can't even imagine the odds of her running into to someone else who was watching this dog and striking up a conversation.

Teresa will be taking more pics of him and sharing them. She said she is going to call him Chance.

This afternoon about 2:30 I decided to take my Harley over to check on the stray dog but it started to rain so I had to come back and get the car. I stopped for another hamburger patty for him and  to whoever would listen to please let him be in the cage. A storm is moving in and I didn't want him out in the rain. I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled to a stop and he was there in the cage!!! I expected him to be frantic after how he was acting but no he was sitting quite calmly. I called my sister as I ran back to my car and pulled it closer. She had to bring the truck to load the cage with him in it cuz it wouldn't fit in my car. We got him to my house and removed two ticks from him and then gave him a bath. He's timid around us but checking things out and curious about the girls. He keeps marking so we had to diaper him. He's hiding under the train table now and finally eating some kibble. :calvindance::calvindance:
Someone was looking out for this little guy. :luv: He looks so much like our Sissy!

Thank you for your prayers, finger crossing, chanting or whatever you may have done to help us finally rescue this little boy.

Look there he is!!

Pretty calm:

His little nest right on the edge of the road:

At my house:

What's down there?

A bath?

Okay this isn't THAT bad I guess:

I'm going to just hide back here where it seems safe:

Last Saturday on our way home from Bark in the Park we spotted a rat terrier in the interstate median. Someone dumped it out there with a bag of puppy food. :cussing: Every day since we have been trying to catch him. We stop to give him water and check on him several times a day. He won't let us near him. When he sees us he takes off running down the shoulder of the highway. We have been unsucessful with our live trap as well but I am HOPING that was because of the bag of puppy food. Right now he is sleeping and sheltering from the sun in a bush. Last week IDOT began mowing the medians. This holiday weekend is buying us some extra time but the mowers will come and his hiding place will be gone. We called animal control for this county but they must have looked for him once and gave up. We are running out of ideas for catching him. My girl friend Teresa will give him a good home if we can just get our hands on him. I took his bag of food away from him Friday afternoon so lets hope today is the day he decides he REALLY wants the hamburger that is in the cage. Just a little bit of luck and we can save him.

I hope the heartless bastard who dumped him out someday finds themselves homeless and hungry. This is the worst thing to do to a dog. Most dogs would be dead on the highway within the first day. They are scared and in a panic and run out into traffic. At least have enough compassion to take your dog to the shelter so that if it must die, it can be done painlessly. How this little guy has managed to survive is amazing.
