How much time to you spend wandering the internet looking for a good deal on pet supplies? No one wants to cut corners on pet care but most of us are cutting back trying to survive our current economic situation. So instead of burning up precious time looking for a great price, check out ShopWiki.com. I’ve blogged about them before and I’m sold on their website.
Just take a quick look at their http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Dog+Care”">dog care section or the http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Small+Pets”">small pets page to get an idea of just how easy it is to find anything you need. Each section has a buying guide also that you can edit, just like a traditional wiki. I have worked with James (the owner) in the past in the hermit crab section to update the care info. James is very personable and open to ways to improve the shopping experience.
Traditional shopping sites will only show you stores that have paid for placement, and ShopWiki? will give a shopper everything regardless if we can earn anything. It's the most comprehensive shopping site available. For a shopper, this means they can find anything and everything for sale on the web at ShopWiki.com.
Pit Bull Awareness Day
Saturday, October 24, 2009
10 am-3pm
Humane Society of Missouri Headquarters
1201 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110

Meet and greet some of our loveable Pits. Myth-busting games and activites for all ages. Important owning and training information.
Learn the truth about Pits. Pit Bulls and other 'power breeds' often have a bad reputation.
With proper training, love and affection, 'power breed' dogs are readily "Man's Best Friend."
The Animal Rescue site, partnered with Pet Finder, is again offering a $100k shelter makeover. Simply visit their site and vote for your favorite shelter. No registration needed and you can vote every day.
This year I am voting for Mutts n Stuff and I am asking you to do the same if you don't currently have a favorite shelter. Not only did Mutts n Stuff help us by taking in Tara and finding her a home, they have taken in some of the dogs from the largest dog fighting ring bust in US history and are finding them homes.
Mutts n Stuff does some truly amazing work to save Pit Bulls as well as other breeds. They are a small rescue group and I know the vet bills from just the rescued fighting dogs are substantial. They not only need your help by voting but any cash donation you can give them would help, even $5.00.
In the article below you will see the story of Fay, her bills alone are around $2,000.
To vote go HERE and search for: Mutts -n- Stuff Saint Charles, MO 63303
One you vote you can bookmark the page to come back each day and vote.
This rescue really deserves your vote! Thanks so much!
They’re going home.
They lived tortured lives full of pain and deprivation from owners who brutally bred, trained and fought them for “sport” and profit. Their second chance for a great life began July 8 when the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued them in the largest dog fighting raid in U.S. history.
Since then, Fay, Jakob and Junior have been lovingly cared for by staff and volunteers. Now, they are among the first of what we hope are many of the more than 500 dogs from this rescue who will go to rescue groups and, ultimately, wonderful new homes.

FAY is a five-year-old, black female American Pit Bull Terrier. Her scarred face tells her story – she has no lips, most likely ripped off in a brutal dog fight. Now, she will be nurtured by the founders and volunteers of Mutts-n-Stuff, a St. Louis-based bully breed rescue group. They hope Fay will eventually earn her Canine Good Citizen certification and become a Certified Therapy Dog.

JAKOB is a one-year-old, brindle, male American Pit Bull Terrier. Though still a youngster, Jacob came to our emergency shelter with many scars and a fresh wound on his face. The now lucky boy, who loves to snuggle and give very soft kisses, will travel this week to San Francisco for rehabilitation and a great new life with Our Pack Inc. Pit Bull Rescue.

JUNIOR is an 11 year-old, tan, male American Pit Bull Terrier. On his Rescue Day we found he had cataracts, many broken and rotting teeth and he was severely underweight. Now he’s a gentle, old soul, much healthier and ready to be pampered in “retirement” by the founders and volunteers of Missouri-based Broken Hearts, Mended Souls Rescue.
From the very beginning, our goal for these desperate dogs has been to give each one the best possible chance for a loving forever home. With the help of hundreds of volunteers during the past three months, we rescued them from horrible daily abuse, treated their wounds, gave them nourishing food, walked and gave them loving attention, evaluated their health and behavior and have scoured the U.S. to find them caring, understanding homes.
We are thrilled Fay, Jakob and Junior have found their happy endings. We are continuing to work with these and many other rescue groups to keep the happy endings coming for as many of these deserving dogs as possible.
Thank you very much for your support in our efforts to eliminate dog fighting and care for the victims of this heinous abuse.
With kindest regards,
Kathryn W. Warnick
President
Humane Society of Missouri
P.S. More good news! A seventh person in this case has pled guilty to felony charges of dog fighting. We look forward to bringing you more good news in this case. Visit our website for updates.
I found some slide shows on the Bad Rap Rescue website that shows the dogs that were brought to them for evaluation and adoption. Then there is Vickdogsblog with current photos of many of the dogs in their new homes. So if you are interested in some happy news about these dogs, check out the links.
