When you approach a dog that's "not so friendly," your natural reaction would be to talk calmly and give it a nice, big smile. But, this is exactly what you don't want to do. To a dog in attack mode, showing your teeth can be a sign of aggression. If you smile with your teeth shining, it might cause the dog to attack. In this case, smiling is not contagious!
