...hey guys. Sorry I've been out of the loop: Holidays, family drama, a bit of traveling to (eek) countries where dog is a delicacy. It's really weird to be in cities where you don't see dogs. Very strange.

Anyway, I'm back and on the trail for dogs, both kinds, and of course, missing whelp mates. Without further adieu...I give you the Vilanchs.

Kinda reminds me of the Wilson sisters of Heart: the redhead, Nancy, and brunette Anne.

  • Dog lover, yes...

...but not an all-around animal lover. This is the truth.

Note my not-so-subtle reaction to a feathered guest on my show. It is the Guam Rail, a species on the brink of extinction thanks to the enemy invader species the brown tree snake, which was introduced to Guam during WWII. It has since wiped out most native bird species.

You'd think I'd be kinder to the bird. Um..no thanks. Get me a dog any day.

...for a bit and I wasn't able to make that date with Sam the dreamy Rotty. But I did have a real person date with a person with a dog and I got to thinking...could I be a step daddy?

    Here are the considerations:

    1. I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life, and while a dog is fabulous companionship, the ultimate long-term involvement for me is human-on-human.

    2. A human-with-dog relieves me of the pooch search, housebreaking, etc.

    3. A second parent is always great in a dog-household....

  • Meet Sam...

...a 3 year old, 140 pound kitten of a Rotty who's spent his entire life on a chain.

He's extremely huge, but well proportioned, soulful, intimidating to those who don't know better, and quite stunning in person. My lousy camera doesn't quite capture his gorgeousness, and he hasn't yet learned to not jump (so I couldn't really get better shot.)

The skin under the collar on his neck is hairless and calloused. Does any one know if this skin can ever return to normal? I know of a lot of balms...
