Noelle takes her job as a big sister very seriously. She is eager to teach Ziggy all about being a good dog. Unfortunately, her idea of being a good dog is a bit different than most. First Noelle teaches Ziggy how she makes her scary snarl face. She explains that scary snarl faces are very good for intimidating other dogs who get too close to her food. Ziggy still needs some more practice. Next, Noelle teaches Ziggy the art of furniture destruction. She watches proudly as he attempts to...

He thinks hands are for chewing. He thinks barking will get him a reprieve from the crate so he can sleep in bed with me. He thinks sitting nicely deserves a treat every time. He thinks cat tails are toys. The problem is, he's so adorable and goofy that I can't help but laugh at him!

Myfoster puppy Bear was a part of the Puppy Bowl VI which aired on Animal Planet on Sunday. Filming took place last October, and he was adopted shortly after that into a wonderful new home. I spoke with his new mom and she says that he is doing great, and that he enjoyed watching the Puppy Bowl, and seeing all of his new friends on TV. Here are some pictures from the filming last October. Puppies get to visit and sniff each other in the green room prior to the game. Bear makes friends with a...

Last week ane-mail came, requesting help with a dog in a rural area. The dog had been removed from its owners by an Animal Control Officer due to extreme neglect. The dog was discovered in a small makeshift pen with only a turned over garbage can for shelter. He was thin, sad, and just about frozen. Bev, anAll Paws Rescue volunteer, agreed to take him. She got him into the vet right away, and found he is in bad shape. He is over 20 pounds underweight. He has a double ear infection, whip...

Emma cameto mein rather a smelly state. She had lived her life mostly outdoors, and it showed...errr, smelled.Bad. So I decided a bath was in order. No problem, right? Labs like water. This should be easy. My first clue came when I gave each of the other dogs a rawhide to munch on while I was busy with Emma, and lured Emma to the bathroom with her rawhide. As soon as we started to enter the bathroom, she dropped the rawhide and tried to run away. At this point there was no water present, no...
  • Harley was adopted!

Harley the Himalayan was adopted this week! We have adoption events at PetSmart every weekend, but sometimes people see a foster pet they are interested in on-line, and we make arrangements with them to meet them during the week. That's what happened with Harley - I received an application and the adopter didn't want to wait until Saturday to meet Harley. I knew he was more than ready to go to a quieter home, so we arranged to meet at PetSmart earlier this week. The family came up and met...

Earlier this week, I posted about a crime that was committed in my living room. An investigation took place, and finally yesterday came a break in the case. I received this e-mail... I was reading your detective blog and was wondering if there was a reward for turning in and conviction of the felon? I was intrigued. The e-mail came from a friend who is temporarily housing one of the suspects. Did she have proof that the suspect she is housing was guilty? I quickly offered a very large reward...
  • Introducing Emma

I brought this new foster dog home with me on Saturday. She was adopted out as a puppy but her owners were unable to keep her so they brought her back to us. She is under two years old, so she still acts like a puppy sometimes. She pretty much has two speeds. On or Off. The only way to get her to stop running is to start petting her. Then she immediately rolls onto her back and becomes practically comatose. I think I like this dog.
