Meet Rosie, the Weimaraner photographed in Lion’s Park in Port Coquitlam on a very sunny afternoon. Rosie is a first show dog that I had a chance to take pictures of in the Off Leash photo session.
Her full name is Silverisle’s Der Rosenkavalier. Sounds impressive and complicated so we stick with Rosie. She comes from the breeder on Vancouver Island, SilverIsle. I did the first photo in back and white vintage, because I thought it adds more dignity and shows off the timeless beauty of this breed.

Rosie is two and a half and as expected she is very playful and active dog. I think the photo below shows her funny side, just look at that smile…

And then there is more serious side…

And a mix of both looks..

On our walk by the creek we came across the blue bridge..

Unlucky for me Rosie does not like water at all and even the fact that it was quite hot would not get her closer to the water than this…

And the end of our walk we decided to try to get Rosie to jump, but she had on interest in doing so..after a few hops she started coming at me like a bulldozer. Her mom says this is how she shows affection, so I guess she decided she liked me! I still managed to get a couple of in the air photos.. here is one..

And the end of the session Rosie was tried enough to give me some chances for close ups..

I would like to thank Victoria for giving Melissa (Rosie’s mom) the gift of Off Leash Pet Photography session. As always I had fun doing what I love and Melissa and Rosie worked hard with me in the process.
Summer is just about over, where did it go so fast? I am looking at the yellow grass in this photo thinking we had it good this year! Oh, a tough life of a pet photographer in Vancouver!
This week started just great for me I got to photograph Henry, fabulous 2 year old German Shepherd, what a dog!
The first photo on the blog is one of my favorites, it shows his funny and active nature.. and it you look closely you can see his mom cheering him on! So cute!

And here in his glory at the park. It was difficult for him to part with this ball..but he is such a poser..

His mom wanted some photos with Henry…you see where my focus is…I cannot help it lol I could not believe how well he listened to me!

And then we set out to the near by beach. Henry is so lucky, he lives close to the beautiful Crescent Park in White Rock and the beach is just a few steps away.
I have to admit that photographing dogs on Vancouver Beaches gives me the most pleasure, there is nothing better that getting the shots of the dog splashing around..

After the swim all dogs get their photographers wet..it is mandatory! Henry went a step further and licked me when his nose was full of sand… Got to love him!

After his affectionate display towards me we got some real love shots with mom again..

Isn’t this amazing how fast the wet dog can dry?

Little poser again! In the photo on the right he is looking at his mom, you can just see the love pouring out…
And there came the time to say good bye!

Henry, I am hoping to see you at Walk for Paws, I will be there taking pictures by donation for Surrey SPCA (100% goes to Surrey Shelter!).
Thank you Janne for hiring me to photograph your fantastic dog! I had a blast! More pictures coming soon in your on line gallery.
I participated in Vancouver Event for dog lovers created in support for BC Guide dog services. I had a table with some photos on it and I got to show people some of my work. It felt great to meet so many new people and dogs!
Vancouver sure does not lack in dog population, it is estimated that the city itself has over 80 000 dogs! I was taking photos through out the day and wanted to share a few, lost more will be available through the West End Dog Show Website.

If you wondering what breed is the dog on the left (top)…it is quite rare here South African Boerboel, he is still quite young and he will put on another 50 lbs or so.

The Show this year was quite busy with lost of contests, prizes and pure old fun. There was a dog look a like contest..

and many others like 6 legged race, dog tricks and lots of informative presentations with dog massage, teeth cleaning, grooming etc.

I am just posting a few photos, if you do not see your dog here it is possible that the photo made it to the slide show on West End Dog Show website.

The show benefited BC Guide Dog Services, a fantastic organization that trains the dogs for the people in need. Big thank you to everyone who participated, your support is greatly appreciated!

Meet the newest addition to Lisa’s family..Betsey the Mini Pin..just 7 weeks old. The girl holing her is Jaden, the two little girls bonded instantly.

It was hard to take a photo just with the dog, but I welcomed the idea.

Puppies need their sleep..

Betsey has an older sister Jasmin that I have worked with last winter. We tried our best to get the dogs together in the pictures..

You will be seeing Betsey again soon for an outdoor session and then the grow up ones…enjoy!
This weekend was a busy one in Vancouver! Fire and Police Games, Gay Pride Festival and Parade, Powell Street Festival and so on and on… We in our lovely New Westminster had our own event 12 Street festival. To help raise money for Royal Humane Society we offered doggy wash by donation in front Playful Puppy Palace. Off Leash Photography was there documenting the event.. I would not miss photographing dogs having a bath, it was fun!

Again the day was hot and the pooches welcomed the cooling effect of the bath…however some of them did not like the shampoo to much..

Lisa and her husband Khris from Playful Puppy Palace organized the event with participation of Royal Humane Society represented by Stacy, one of many volunteers.
If you would like to find out how you can help our local animals visit their site.

Small doggies ended up in the tub, big ones got showered on the sidewalk.

Lisa and Stacy were so delicate bathing the dogs that most of them did not mind at all and let the do what was needed.

Amazing new product has emerged at the event SlurPuppies (name given by Lisa’s 8 year old daughter)… these were Slurpees for doggies in two flavors chicken and beef. On the photo above the rottie is trying to decide which one is better..

After the bath each dog got a nice piece of doggy cake..hence the tongues sticking out.. one might have thought that the dogs were sticking the tongues at us..were they??!

Some of the pups had more areas to cover…

Some less..

It is not the same dog on both sets of photos… these guys live together, but are not related…Lucky for me their leashes were different color otherwise I would not tell a difference..

The dog below caused quite a spectacle, he was screaming madly the whole time!

Isn’t this amazing who different your dogs look like when wet?

Some dogs (owners) opted out just for the cold shower..no shampoo for the Dane…he is magnificent

I was a great day for a doggy bath and a good day for Royal Humane Society that got some of the much needed money. Thank you for all who came out and have fun with us!
RHC has currently 25 cats for adoption, they are adorable help us find them homes!
