Here at DogTipper.com we've launched a new reader poll: is your dog frightened of fireworks? Years ago, one of our dog was petrified of fireworks and we dreaded the Fourth of July celebrations every year. Other dogs of our have barely noticed the noise. What about your dogs? Take our poll on the right side of this page and share your experience!

Yes, one of our dogs hides in a corner during fireworks, but he's getting better. We've got a couple of videos on the same topic, if you want to check it out: http://topdogblog1.blogspot.com/2009/06/keeping-your-pets-safe-during-fireworks.html

I had a dumb dog that would literally carry the fireworks around in his mouth as they were going off!! He loved them. He wasn't the brightest dog ever.

My norwegian elkhound LOVES fireworks! The more spectacular they are, the more she loves them. I've heard that dogs ears are sensitive to them, however, her bark seems louder than the fireworks. (She's afraid of Thunder??)

We have an 8 yr old toy fox terrior who just started being frightened of fireworks about 3 years ago. Anytime they go off he runs for the house and jumps in my lap and trimbles for about 10 min. Longer if they go off constantly. We really dread tonight....

yes my new dog Callie, we rescued her from the humane society.. They said they found her wondering the streets. So we don't know what she was predisposed to before us. She is very timid and skittish. So yes she does not like fireworks. I found something that can deprogram her reaction.By positive replacement. I say the word fireworks or set off something alittle less intimidating and treat. Do that for a good while untill reaction ceases. And voila they turn their behavior around.
thanks ms.B
