THE TOY THIEF!WHY DO THEY DO IT? Because it works. 90% of the time stealing toys is a good way to get chased by either a dog or person.
Is it appropriate? That depends. There are lots of ways for play to go badly. Some things like toy stealing are HUGE GREY AREA.
In the photo above...
1. The blue-pit ran up to the black pit shook her orange toy and tried to get the black-pittie to chase her.
2. When it didn't work, she came back, dropped her toy (the orange octopus). This still did not...

from Go Dog Training

It is a common misconception that you can determine a dog's friendliness by the tail. A wagging tail is NOT a sign that the dog wants you to come closer, pet them, or put your face near their face. A wagging tail does not mean that the dog is definitely friendly.
Dogs wag their tails when they are excited, interested, aroused, agitated and uncertain. Some dogs dont even have tails! And some dogs have unusual tails that are always up or always curled in a particular way. Now keep in mind...

Did you know that some dogs are taught to bark on purpose?

Learning about how a dog is taught to bark can lend some insight into what methods that will or will not work to teach a dog to be QUIET.
Toys are often used as rewards...
"QUIET!" Barking: Whose Problem Is It?
from Go Dog Training
on Tuesday September 9th, 2008 at 09:18 PM
CHEW ON THIS... Humans used to really like barking. The evidence? We have lots of dogs (all breeds and sizes) that do it.
When people complain that a dog is "misbehaving" what they mean is that the dog is exhibiting behaviors that are inconvenient, irritating or disruptive. Very few dogs actually exhibit ABNORMAL BEHAVIORS. Barking is a good example of an annoying behavior that is normal for dogs.
Excessive barking is a common concern. Barking, whining and howling can cause problems with...
BEGGING FOR MORE?

THE ANCIENT ART OF THE DOG
Is your dog willing and able to beg? I'd bet anything they come from a long, long line of beggars -really CUTE, clever, beggars.
The latest and most popular theory on the evolution of dogs from wolves basically negates the concept that humans had anything to do with domesticating the dog. The dog created herself.
That's right some dogs (for whatever reason) were willing to walk right into camp, look cute, limp, lick her chops, give sad-eyes, tolerate petting and...
