When I go back to my pond, it is not uncommon for me to see a Great Blue Heron, as they frequent my pond. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for the Great Blue Heron to also see me... before I see it. Therefore, my view is of the tail-end flying away. Last weekend though, I had a 'lifer' encounter, as a Green Heron (Butorides virescens)flew out of some brush and landed in a tree to pose for me. Most people teach their dog basic commands. The animal will come when called, sit and stop on command.
