Okay, truth be told I know nothing about cars, but my husband does. And he's always putzing around with the car, the yard or the house. He wants to upgrade our car to either a supercharger or vw turbocharger because the advantages that it will make to our car. He talks on and on about this stuff all the time and really I'm only half listening, but he does say it will enhance the performance of our car. How does it work? Well, I got a good lesson on this and what it does is it forces the air in and out of the engine faster and increases the horsepower efficiency. He leans more towards the turbocharger because of where it gets its power supply. He likes the turbocharger system better because he says it's more efficient because it uses wasted energy in the exhaust stream for its power. I almost kinda wish he would teach me how to work on the car so that I can also know how to do these things, but for right now I think I'll just count on him :)
