Michael Vick’s former house sits empty Discussions

Im not sure why I wanted to visit 1915 Moonlight Road maybe for the same reason people visit Nazi death camps, Ground Zero and other scenes of slaughter.

Maybe its in part to pay respects to those who died and suffered, in part to remind ourselves of how evil man can be that whole business about keeping history fresh enough in our minds that we dont allow the mistakes of the past to be repeated.

Maybe (last maybe, I promise) thats also why you still find Michael Vick stories on ohmidog! and elsewhere not so much because we want to keep punishing a man who has paid what the courts decided was his debt, but because we think the public, and public officials, need to keep it fresh in their heads, and do all in their power to wipe out the ongoing scourge of dogfighting.

If you all will reread the article, it was bought by a private individual after his sentencing. Michael Vick no longer owns it. Seems it should have been part of his punishment to turn it over to an animal welfare group, but it's too late for that now.....

I also think that is really something that should be done ,....a great idea of buying the property and converting it in to a sanctuary for dogs would help so much ,....every little bit counts ,.and as for Michael Vick he should donate that property for the dogs that he has decided there fate to and help put more awareness in his wrong doing ,..you say you are sorry and you payed you dept to society i don't think so ,.......is's not over ,...........

Part of his punishment was to have handed over the house to a reputable animal rescue organization and used for animal rehab. Some interesting Karma is a chap who saw off his dog"s head with a chain saw, although punished by the SPCA - met his death in a terrible car accident some months later - I say viva karma, viva!!!

The idea of buying the property and converting it in a sanctuary for dogs is great! don't understand why it was dropped.

I'd love to see it turned into some sort of rehab for dogs. And I Know what Ace was doing when he sat there. It was his moment of silence for all the dogs that suffered there.

That was my first thought too...turn it into a place that helps animals to try to erase the evilness and pain that haunts it.

Somebody should buy it and make it into a rehab facility for severely abused dogs. Seems like it's the only thing it should be used for.
