Stay away from this crap, it will kill your dog. It used to be good food, but they changed the ingredients and now it is actually killing pets. Read up... http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/canidae.html

Canidae is the best food I've ever given my dogs. Their coats are shiny, skin doesn't flake, stools are compact, and, they love it. I've read the bull on "consumer affairs." Why is any Internet website considered to be gospel when it is so easy to manipulate and control the information presented. The Internet is not the place to go for truth.

Consumeraffairs site is BS! Search any product you have in your home and you will find complaints. They prey on ignorant people who think they are going to get rich off their poor pets bad breeding or their lack of care for their pets. How can you watch your pet have runny poop for weeks even months without making a change? STUPID! I feel bad for the pets that did not take to the new formula because their lazy owners are too dumb to pay attention to their pets needs. Now they want to sue, yet they are the very ones who will complain about the price of the food. No wonder we are in a huge frickin recession, sue happy folks taking advantage and sneaky slimy lawyers who will do anything to make a buck.

Sorry folks, but you are wrong. I was a die-hard Canidae fan and fed it for more than 7+ years exclusively. They changed their formula, and I went looking for an alternative (TOTW, Innova, Wellnes), and the dogs continued to thrive. My feed store talked me into trying Canidae's 'new formula' due to cost benefits, and they had not received any complaints. Off I went with 20 35lbs of Canidae - I have 5 large dogs ages 1 to 12+ years - weight 60 to 100+ lbs. Within days one dog experience explosive diarreha. By bag 18 all my dogs were taken to the Vet for weigh-ins and blood panels - all were sick. All blood panels came in A-OK, but all the dogs experienced significant weight loss (15-20%) and some had experienced the vomiting and diarreha. After talking to the Vet we isolated the problem to the food - Canidae. I threw out the 2 remaining bags of Canidae ALS I had and switched them to TOTW in hopes of them regaining their health and weight. So if you feed Canidae and haven't experienced problems - count yourself luck. If you are continuing to feed Canidae - you are playing Russian Roullete and your luck may run out. There is something VERY wrong with Canidae's 'new' formula. It use to be a fabulous food, but now it's a very dangerous one to feed. Take it from someone with 40+ years experience in raising 100+ dogs. I have experienced these types of symptoms in one 'sick' dog at a time, but not an entire pack at the same time.
