This month is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! All over the country there are thousands and thousands of amazing, lovable, talented, cute, big and small, fun and furry, purebred and All-American pups in shelters and rescues just waiting for their forever home. Being a rescue dog myself, I understand what these pups are going through. They are scared, and lonely, they want love and companionship - they want a family and a home they can call their own. Shelter pups are amazing pups. I have...Meet Micah!

Micah is around 3 1/2 months old and weighs aroun 7 lbs. We were told he was a affenpinscher but we are guessing that he might also have some schanuzer in him given his size. Regardless, he is a very sweet, attentive little guy who's eyes could melt any heart. He is all puppy and still learning about housebreaking. He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home and would love to play with the cat (if only the cat would let him!). He is not hyper and rarely makes a noise but he is...Thursday we shine the light on pet adoption!

For well over a year, we have blogged about pups in need. And from the emails we get, we hear we have had success in helping pups find their forever home, just like I did. This Thursday is a special day - a day to shine the light on pet adoption and bring awareness of the benefits of pet adoption to a whole new level. We will be participating in the First Annual Pet 'Net adoption event along with many other pet bloggers. Here are the details..and be sure and check back on Thursday when we...Meet Sammy!

Sammy was adopted from the Mecklenburg shelter about 2 years go. He is estimated at about 5/6 years of age, is microchipped, neutered and UTD on all his shots, and current on heartworm control. Unfortunately, due to health issues, Sammys owner needs to find him a loving home. Sammy is described as a little love, friendly and affectionate and protective to his owner. He's playful and loves to run. Because of his protectiveness, Sammy needs a new owner that is dog savvy and knows how to correct...Finding your soulmate!

Are you still looking for your soul mate? Lots of people are, and with their lives always so busy it can be really difficult to find the time to find that special someone. Lots of lots of young, midlife and older two-leggers are turning to the Internet to find friends, someone to date and that elusive forever friend. And some are finding success, settling down and living a great life together. Mum is more of a fate person. She knows when the right person comes along it will be the right time....Cool dog movies!

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is churning out the bucks at the boxoffice! And there are several new dog movies coming out on the big screen this year and the first of next year! One of the most anticipated is Marley & Me, which will be opening in theaters Christmas Day. Hollywood actors Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston and Alan Arkin star in the big-screen adaptation of John Grogan's best-selling memoir, "Marley & Me." The story is about a couple who decide to adopt a yellow Labrador retriever...Meet Nimrod!

Nimrod is a 14 month old, very active corgi, no couch potato here. He is very smart and probably would do well at agility or herding. He has the typical corgi "attitude" Would most likely get along with an older, tolerant dog. He was placed in rescue by folks who didn't really understand the breed and he became the "boss" instead of them. Impeccible housetraining. Very food and toy oriented. We met Nimrod through The Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Potomac Rescue group. They encourage and...Meet Millie!

Millie is a favorite gal -- she is a 5 year old purebred English Coonhound who almost died from starvation. She is getting fatter every day and is the love of your life! Millie is a quiet hound with a soft voice and is very gentle with other dogs and seems to be OK with kitties too! We found Millie currently being cared for by the Middleburg Humane Foundation in Middleburg, Virginia. Middleburg Humane Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible. MHF...
