Pet Product Review - No Scratch spray by Pet Organics

                  Petorganics_thumb

I purchased this product out of sheer desperation! My cats had gone to work on our new sofa and I vowed that I would not let them destroy one more thing in my house! It claims to be safe, non-staining and contains herbal essentials (garlic oil & clove oil), that discourage cats from scratching. The instructions say to apply it once a day for a few days and then as needed.

I first applied it to the areas of the sofa that the cats seemed to be focusing on. I applied it every day for 4 days. The first week the cats started clawing the couch just outside the perimeter of the sprayed area so I sprayed some more! It seemed to work for a couple of days at a time but then the cats would be right back at it, clawing the couch in the treated areas (I could even swear the darling little devils were laughing at me as they clawed with glee while staring at my bewildered expression). After reapplication they would back off for another day, maybe two.

Bottom line: I would say that it works if you are diligent in your reapplications. Perhaps my cats are a little more headstrong than yours and will cringe at the scent. To the human nose it smells very pleasant and is true to its claim to be non-staining. Personally, I may try applying fresh garlic directly to the couch, no humans will want to sit there but, hey, it will be preserved for future generations.

You can purchase Pet Organics No Scratch sprays at most retail stores who also carry pet supplies or you can buy a 16 oz bottle for $11.39 online at PetSmart

Pet Product Review - Whisker Lickin's cat treats by Purina

                                Purina-whisker-lickins-1_thumb

Most cat lovers will attest to the adage that you cannot please all of the cats, all of the time. It's certainly true in our house of cats, especially when it comes to treat time.

The Cat Panel weighed in with their votes on Purina's Whisker Lickin's Crunch Lovers Tuna Flavor treats (5 Paw rating = Purrr-fect):

Indy Indy - A princess forced to live with two slovenly step-brothers and who dislikes most treats - 5 Paws - she loves them!

Buddha Buddha - Not as serene as his name implies, into everything and likes most treats - 5 Paws - keeps finding where I've hidden them and tries desperately to open the container with his teeth

Braveheart Braveheart - Our old battle-scarred veteran who keeps mostly to himself and likes some of the treats, some of the time - 5 Paws - devoured every crumb

My take: I like the fact that you can purchase these treats in a canister (as opposed to a pouch), so I can simply shake the canister when it's treat time instead of yelling all over the house like Ma Kettle. All-in-all, I'm happy when they're happy and Whisker Lickin's makes them all very happy!

You can find them in most stores that carry cat treats or you can purchase the 4 oz canister for $3.79 at: Petco.com

Pet Product Review - Nature's Best by Hill's Science Diet

I have this friend who is so darling.  She works close to Grand Central Station in New York.  If you're from New York City, you'll know this location is "sample city".   Companies love to give out samples.  With that over the course of a week collected for me and my pup Charlie over 20 boxes of daily sample packs of Nature's Best by Hill's Science Diet.  What a doll.

Although I accepted them graciously, my pup is too young to have a diet that is changed around frequently.  So I took the samples and in turn donated them to a local organization that saves and fosters stray cats and dogs in my neighborhood.  With the economy the way it is, they are grateful for any donation.

I did, however ask Marta, the group organizer if she could help me out, and select just one dog and give him the Nature's Best by Hill's Science Diet for a straight 20 days.  She obliged.  Lucky for me all of the samples were Nature's Best Lamb & Brown Rice Dinner.

Well after the 20 days, Marta called me up and said that dog she was fostering had improved so significantly in such a fast time.  Not only did he have more energy, but his coat was fluffy and had a nice shine to it, and he played at the dog run with more glee than before.  I'm not sure, but I think the combination of superior dog food and some good home love did the trick.

Now there are many great quality dog foods out there, and many that are not so great.  And each one will work differently on different dogs.  So I like this product, but I do recommend you ask your vet or breeder what foods they recommend.  Nature's Best pet food claims to be the only natural pet food clinically proven to provide complete, balanced nutrition.  Go to their website for more details:

While you're there, make sure to sign up for your $5 off coupon so that you can try the food risk free.  And check out the link where to buy as Nature's Best by Hill's Science Diet is available at local veterinarians.

Pet Product Review: Urine Eliminator™  By Rug Doctor

Everyone knows I am a strong advocate of keeping cleaning supplies especially those that are made specifically for pet in the house.

Rugdoctor_eliminator_thumb

Well and my house is cleaning products are very important. Because I have a puppy. I frequently have little pee pee stain send small accident. So when I saw at my local stop and shop store that Rug Doctor Urine Elimintor was on sale for only $9.99, which was a 50% savings. I thought this must be a good product if they initially cost $20. So I bought a bottle.

Well, let's just say I've had better experience with other cleaning products and been more satisfied. First, the To the spray nozzle was loose and I lost about one third of the product in the shopping bag. That may be furious. Then after my puppy happens have an unusually large pee accident. And I use the product, then. But had to use the product all over again it did not clean to my satisfaction and dried residue remained.

But it was more than that, I think the product is way too expensive.  Even on sale; and especially when you have to use it twice. ALso, they have a big warning lable to keep away form kids because of the nonionic detergents.  A warning for Kids, but not pets?

Anyway if you're interested in buing this product you may do so for $19,98+ $8 shipping at:  http://buy.rugdoctor.com/cleaning-products
