Pet Product Reviews - Pork Comps treats made with Baked Pork Skin
If you have a dog making sure he's got treats that he likes and are safe and healthy is very important. And if you're like me, every time you reach for one of those raw hide treats you think "hmmm, I've heard these may not be the best."
Well Soctt Pet Products, a leading provider of innovative pet products for over 35 years is easing this concern with the introduction of Pork Chomps, Made with baked pork skin that have a natural flavor and extremely appealing to dogs.

Because they are made of baked pork skin, Pork Chomps are digested more easily than rawhide. Beef rawhide has been found to cause harmful and painful obstructions in a dog's digestive tract, which could put your dog at risk for intestinal blockages.
My dog Charlie just loves the bacon flavored.
Order your bag of Pork Chops for only $21.99 for a 25 count at http://porkchomps.com/eshop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=28&cat=Bacon+Flavored

Pet Product Review - Topline Canine Care
Those of us who know that having a beautiful dog means having the commitment keeping it beautiful. There are no short cuts, it takes time, dedication and hardwork to keep your dog's coat looking its best. Lucky for ust there is an awesome new line of grooming products called Topline Canine Care. Topline shampoo and conditioner products are designed to nourish, sooth and refresh your dog's coat, and uses only the finest gentle and nonirritating products. You can visit their website at www.toplinecanine.com

My friend Barry, who is a groomer in a top New York grooming salon and I tried the Topline system over the weekend on two dogs, a short haired pit/boxer and a cocker spaniel. Barry who is very fussy about grooming products went throught the routine, and afterwards, simply said "he liked the product, it lathered well, the fragrance was great without being over powering, and the hair dried nicely." From Barry, that was quite a compliment.
For me, I said "looks like the dogs were sent out to the cleaners and came back delightfully pressed and clean." The dogs just looked vibrant and healthy. You can just see that the dog's hair had been moisturized. I especially like how the products are fortified with SPF sun protection. This is especially important for puppies as they are more susceptible to sunburn.
Using the Topline grooming solutions shampoo and conditioner is very easy, and affordable. If you're interested in purchasing Topline Canine Care, call the manufacturer directly or go to their website: http://toplinecanine.com/purchase.html

Pet Product Review: Holistic Select Duck Strips Natural Dog Treats 6oz bag
The people at Holistic Select sent Champ and I the most wonderful bag of treats; Holistic Select Duck Strips Natural Dog Treats 6oz bag.
But as you know, I've been trying not to "over treat" Champ as it is fattening and it spoils him. So I gave the sample bag to my friend Paul who has three lovely dogs (all rescued). Now, when it comes to an opinion, Paul I trust. He's outspoken, and doesn't hesitate to let you know exactly how he feels. Here was his quick review: "It’s worth mentioning that I’ve yet to find a treat that they don’t garble up like it’s their last meal.
So my view is this. If it’s healthy (made of real food, not overly processed junk, not too salty, with an appropriate blend of nutrients for dogs their age/size) and if it’s not too expensive, then I’m a fan"
Well Paul, I didn't taste the treats, but I can tell you they are healthy. Holistic Select is "Made In the USA" always a plus in my book, and only uses the finest all natural ingredients: Duck (preserved with natural mixed tocopherols), brown rice, sea salt, rosemary extract, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, coated ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C)
As for the price, I think they are an excellent price considering the quality of the treat. Remember, they are "treats" not meals. Pet Food Direct has the best selection and prices at $7.19 for a 6oz bag:

Pet Product Review - Holistic Select Chicken Meal & Rice Formula 16.5 lbs bag
One of the troubles that I hear from friends who buy their dog food at super markets is that they find food made specifically for puppies, adults or senior dogs, but what if the dog is a small or medium breed. What should they do? feed their small dog puppy chow? No, I don't think that's the best idea and neither did the people at Holistic Select.

Now for the last few weeks, I've had a little house guest, a minature Pinscher who obviously is a small dog. Lucky for me the Holistic Select sent me a sample of the Holistic Select Chicken Meal & Rice Formula. I was very happy to offer this formula to my tiny house guest because it is especially designed for small and medium breed puppies and adults. What crossed my mind was that for small and medium dogs, this is a very economical choice because no longer do you have to change dog food brands and formulas based on the lifestage of the dog.
Some more points that stuck with me when I researched the brand are:
* Holistic Select's chicken meal is from antibiotic-free chicken meat, with no added hormones.
* Certified organic ingredients include quinoa and dandelion.
* Select fruits and veggies include human grade peas, carrots, apples, blueberries and cranberries.
* Nature's Greens include sun-cured alfalfa, dandelion, and kelp.
And it's made in America and their products have never been part of any recalls.
Did my little house guest like Holistic Select Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, yes! absolutely! and trust me she's been a bundle of energy ever since. I recommend Holistic Select and if you're looking to buy a bag, I recommend shopping on www.PetFoodDirect.com which has an awesome price of $25 for a 16.5 lbs bag:
