Pet Product Review - Sea-Yu Clean+Green Wood and Tile Cleaner

As you may know, I got a puppy the other day.  A baby Sheltie named Charlie.  With the new pup, I've also made a commitment to make my house as organic and chemical free as possible.  The reason, my last dog Champ died of cancer and who knows but I don't think chemically ladden cleaning products helped at all.

Now as you can imagine, having a puppy, there are lots of spots...... pee, feces, drool and all sorts of other spots.  With that, I try my best to keep Charlie confined to my kitchen with a ceramic floor or my foyer with wood parquet.  Thank goodness a few months ago the people at Sea-Yu sent me a can of Sea-Yu Clean+Green Wood and Tile Cleaner for Dogs.  I LOVE IT.

Sea-yu_wood_thumb

I love it because it not only cleans, but it elimates odor and removes stains.  Its really an all purpose cleaning product.  So super easy to use, just point at the spot and spray.  So puppy spots, no problem! My floors look great.

Importantly, Sea-Yu Clean+Green products are completely safe for your pets and for the environment.  The ingredients are all natural:

Cane sugar derivatives, proprietary blend of botanical extracts, hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents) purified water and nitrogen

and the combination naturally biodegrades the odor causing materials.  Oh... And its MADE IN THE USA !   GO SEA-YU !  Personnally how it all works is too much rocket science for me.  So go to their site for info on how this works:

You can find Sea-Yu Clean+Green products at any PETCO or Petsmart, or better yet, order directly from Sea-Yu.  Find the entire collection at only $8.99 per bottle here:

Many people ask me for product recommendations when their pet has particular conditions.  The other week and friend of mine with a pug asked me what spray I would recommend for those little bites and irritations that cause her little "Nigel" to pick and chew on.  So, I asked my vet.  Her recommendation, Ark Naturals Neem “Protect” Spray.

Ark Naturals Neem “Protect” Spray

Pet Products Review: Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System

So, if you've been reading my blog, Champ and I have a fancy weekend away in the Hamptons.  Since its our first social beach weekend we want to look our best.  Today, Champ's groomer Barry came over for brush, comb, massage, bath and clip.   Lucky for us, Champ and I get sent a variety of samples to choose from.  And lucky for Barry, he has so many clients he's always looking for the just the right grooming brand for each of his canine clients.  As you may know, dogs like people all have different hair types, so some products work better than other.  Also every product has its own signature fragrance.  Barry and I decided on Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System.

Now as you know, grooming is costly.  Besides the price of the groomer, the products can be costly, so you want to make sure you pick products that have ingredients and qualities you like.  I chose the Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System for this session because their system is based on all natural primrose oil.  Because Champ is a Shetland Sheepdog, he has a tendency to have hair of many different textures that grows long.  I wanted his hair to be as silky as possible with out being too greasy.  I read primrose is a very light oil so I figured it might be just the right grooming system.

Another important grooming consideration for me is lather.  I'll be honest, I want shampoo that lathers up.  Also, I like conditioner that washes out quickly and does not have an overpowering smell.

Well Isle of Dogs Shampoo no. 10 and their conditioner no. 50 had what I was looking for.  I'm not an expert, but the combination of the two products met my needs.  Champ is clean, clean, clean and smells fresh and natural.  Now if you want your dog to smell very fragrant, this is not the product for you.  Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System leaves a completely au natural scent.

After the clipping and cutting we applied the no. 60 Grooming Spray.  Now I use the grooming spray to add luster and mitigate the drying flaking skin.  But the shampoo and conditioner alone worked so well, its hard to give an assesment on the no. 60 Grooming Spray.  I do wish Champs hair was more silky.  But then again that could be his breed.

All in all, I'm happy with today's grooming session, and the Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System.  I went to their website www.iodogs.com and was impressed with the information on the site, and especially impressed with their shop by breed selection.  Also impressive, however, were the prices.  To buy the Isle of Dogs Canine Grooming System of the 3 products I tested no. 10 Shampoo, no. 50 Conditioner, no. 60 Grooming Spray all in 250 ml bottles would set you back $60.

I do recommend the products but go to their site.  Again, its www.iodogs.com.

Pet Product Review - CLEAN+GREEN by SeaYu The Only Eco-Friendly Aerosol Pet Cleaning Product

Ok, today is Earth Day!!! Happy Earth Day! I'm in beautiful California where the weather is just gorgeous and I can't think of a better day to help SeaYu launch their new line of odor and stain aerosol cleaning products called CLEAN+GREEN.

The people at CLEAN+GREEN sent me some samples, so I was really glad to test them out in time for Earth Day, but also to help me clean up after that little minature Pinscher house guest I had the other week.  You may remember, the one that pee'd all over my oriental rugs.  Ok, I'm venting... but the timing was perfect.

Now, as you know every pet household must have cleaning products in their house to combat the occassional accidents and mishaps.  Even, Champ, my perfect little Sheltie had one the other day on the wood floor. Now my position is if you're going to buy anything, especially cleaning, disposible, waste bags, or such, try your very hardest to make sure it's eco-friendly and biodegradable.  Well finally we have an aerosol product that is.  But, I'm not a scientist that can prove this, I leave this up to the people at SeaYu.

CLEAN+GREEN

As for the products, yes they are great.  When you use CLEAN+GREEN, you can tell the odor is removed without any perfumes or chemicals.  Its kind of weird, its more of an odor eraser. I did use it on the rug that my minature house guest wet, and I can say that the odor is gone.  Unfortunately, the stain was in the rug so long that that dye of the rug did change slightly (only I can tell).  So, CLEAN+GREEN Rug cleaner is not going to do miracles.

Now on the wood floor, I used the CLEAN+GREEN for a more solid mess-up.  After good old water and a bit of soap, I used the CLEAN+GREEN for wood floors.  I sprayed it on and let it sat, and low and behold, no smell or residue.  Usually I pour tons of oil soap all over the floor, and then furniture polish make it shine.  CLEAN+GREEN is a lot less.

Which brings me to another point I like, you don't need tons and tons of product to make it work.  A few sprays.  Not like some "miracle" products that require a full saturation and even then may take up to two weeks to work.  Please, what a waste.

Anyway, I really liked the CLEAN+GREEN products that were sent to me for rugs, furniture and for wood floors.  I hope they send me more samples as they grow their line.  But until then, you can get CLEAN+GREEN at www.PetFoodDirect.com:

Pet Product Review - Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover

A fact is a fact, if you've got a pet, any pet; you're going to have accidents.  No you can plan them, they come at the least opportune times and yes, they are always unpleasant.  So be prepared.

Every pet household needs a can of Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover.  Keep in a cupboard, pantry or linen closet for those unforeseen times.  I've used mine on cat hairballs, muddy paw prints, puppy vomit, and the occasional accidental back end slip.  The stuff works, you just spray, and blot till it's clean.  How easy can that be?

Spot Shot is also great on neutralizing odor.

Now, if you've got a urine situation, old or new, that's a whole different set of stain problems with special products you should consider.  But for the everyday spots, go to any supermarket, Walgreens or Wal-Mart for about $6 for a 14 oz can.
