The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey

There is no doubt that cats experience the five senses sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste in a much more heightened level that humans do. Using every part of their body to communicate and survive eyes, ears, whiskers, mouth, nose, tail, and paws, they navigate through life with incredible prowess and skill. I believe as well that they have a sixth sense that enables them to be intuitive above and beyond those senses, giving them a complex level of understanding far beyond what appears on...

Rolz and Mia celebrate the new day with a toasty warm sun puddle to nap in!
For us Zee and Zoey kitties living in South Florida, our typical summer day begins with us eating breakfast and then we retire to the closest sun puddle for a much-needed and glorious all day nap. At some point that nap will be interrupted like clockwork with a thunderstorm that will cause all of our wonderful sunbeams to go away. The storms come at least once a day and typically they will occur at some point between...

I shared with you on Wednesday some of the ways I like to disconnect from the world to give my mind a mental recharge stepping away from technology, reading a book, and listening to soothing music were some of the things I mentioned. Another activity that I did not mention is one that has been a cherished favorite of mine that stems back to when I was a little girl crocheting warm and cozy afghans.
Actually, all of it stems back to when I was a little girl because as long as I can remember,...

Guess what folks, try as we might, we cant control the world, so why not just focus on the life you are blessed to have around you
I dont do it nearly enough but this past weekend was a serious exercise in unplugging myself from all things technological. I found my brain being surrounded by a dizzying array of unhealthy karma and so boom, just like that, I walked away. I picked up an Anne Rice novel I had gotten for Christmas to read (The Wolf Gift) and I also situated myself with a red pen...

This was a photo of Jazmine (L) taken at the Global Pet Expo and we immediately thought she was a Maine Coon like our handsome boy, Zee (R).
When Dan and I adopted Jazmine she was a former feral kitten and her paperwork coined her as a DLH, meaning that whoever rescued her determined her to be a domestic long-haired cat of mixed ancestry. Since her parentage is unknown, that is a fair assessment, but based on our own Maine Coon, Zee, we thought she was also a Maine Coon. That is until Dan...

In light of all that has been going on lately, I could easily be hired for an acting role on the Walking Dead without the need to audition Even with makeup on I look like a Zombie and despite that I know I am supposed to be taking care of myself, that falls into the category of easier said than done. My emotional state is beyond fragile, so when I found out Zee and Zoeys blog had been nominated for two Pettie Awards, you can only imagine that I broke down in a flood of humble gratitude for...

I think by now its been made more than abundantly clear that the cats in my house are spoiled well, not necessarily spoiled I would say well-loved. But guess what in our house even the cat toys are spoiled! Just take a look to see what I mean!
Yup courtesy of our sweet Jazmine, she has made sure that her beloved fuzzy ball has a nice and cozy spot to nap on! Doesnt every cat toy deserve its own cat bed to nap in?
How about your house? Do the kitty toys get special treatment too?

There is no doubt the loss of a pet is heartbreaking under any circumstances, but when the loss of a pet comes without warning, the grieving process is unspeakably difficult to convey and bear. Unlike with Mr. Jazz whereby Dan and I were given precious months to say goodbye to him and prepare ourselves for the inevitable, when it came to crossing Harley to the Bridge last week, we were given but a few brief minutes. It was not a beautiful Hallmark moment and there was no pretty pink bow to...
