The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey

Being that I am heavily involved in the Cat Writers Association (CWA) and in light of the fact our annual conference will be held at the end of this month, it is not unusual to get a lot of email blasts this time of year about one thing or another. So, when I saw a message in my inbox from CWA Vice President, Dusty Rainbolt on Tuesday, I barely glanced at the subject heading and just opened it, expecting to see something about the conference. Instead, I, along with the whole CWA membership,...

Jazmine and I say Thank you very much for all the wonderful birthday wishes over the weekend!
Hi Everyone! As we hit mid-week, we have a little bit of this and a little bit of that for today! First off, Jazmine and I want to thank all of you for the wonderful birthday wishes Jazmine turned one year old, and me, well, lets just leave it at some unnamed double digit that is just best left alone
Since my birthday was Friday and Jazmines was Sunday, it seemed like the whole weekend was one long...

This is Jazmine when we first laid eyes on her at the Global Pet ExpoWe have been madly in love with her ever since
When Dan and I happened upon Jazmine at the Global Pet Expo this past March we instantly adopted her (hours away from home and completely unprepared, mind you) because quite frankly we had no choice. We lost all sensibilities the spilt second our eyes locked with this ginger feline fatale and I am certain she cast a spell on us, rendering us helpless to her utterly charming and...

Thursday September 25th, 2014 at 01:50 AM
Today is Remember Me Thursday an annual global candle-lighting event held the fourth Thursday of September that was created in 2013 by Michael Arms, the President of the Helen Woodward Animal Center in honor of those people working in animal welfare who are forced to take the lives of the pets they love. He felt that by lighting a candle worldwide for all those orphan pets, that it would be a way for people to let the world know how much they were loved and to opt to adopt, reducing the...

Its not something we like to think about, but literally thousands of precious animals will be euthanized across the world in the brief amount of time it takes you to read this post. It is heartbreaking, unfair, and very difficult for those of us that love animals to comprehend, but the fact is, it happens. But rather than harp on the ethics of it all, I ask for your help, enthusiasm, and dedication to helping make a difference by joining the Remember Me Thursdaycandle lighting awareness...

If you look closely, you will see that our whole gang of seven is in this photo and they are very concerned As in they are very concerned with who will feed them dinner
Yeah its true Im not feeling so well so todays post will be short and sweet. No lessons to learn, no complex cat concepts to ponder, and no commentary to inspire reflective comments. There will be no quiz at the end of the post and everyone is free to go home early without homework! It seems Ive come down with some sort of...
SisalAngle™ Incline Scratcher and BrushUp™ Self-Grooming Post From SmartyKat® – Review and Giveaway!

Believe it or not, when I had cats years ago, I just did not know some of the basic etiquette of cat behavior and cat grooming care like I do today. For example, when my cats would inevitably scratch (and consequently shred) my furniture, I would scold them to stop which was a tactic that very rarely worked. And if they werent scratching the furniture, they would be shedding all over it and telling them to stop doing that clearly didnt work either. And truthfully, you dont want them to stop ...

In the indelible words of the late Joan Rivers, Can we talk? I ask this because the other day I shared a picture of Kizmet sitting in my office chair after he stole it from me when I got up for a brief second to get a glass of water. I marveled at not only how quickly the act had transpired, but also at how quickly he fell soundly asleep considering I was literally only gone a minute at best.
Recognizing an opportunity to encourage some cat talk, I posted his picture on Facebook with the brief...
