Here's an update on the Prince Edward episode we told you about recently: The Prince is in the clear.
Queen Elizabeth's youngest son was in hot water for allegedly hitting one of his hunting dogs with a walking stick last month after his actions were caught by a photographer. But he escaped prosecution when an animal welfare group last week said there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.
Or maybe he just knew people in high places. Whatever, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said it had "closed its investigation as there was insufficient evidence to support the allegation that Prince Edward beat his dog."
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said the news was welcome but refused additional comment.
Pictures seemed to show Prince Edward striking one of the dogs, a Labrador Retriever, who then ran and cowered before the Prince gave chased and raised his stick again.
But without more concrete evidence, he could not be charged. Here's hoping the bad publicity taught him a lesson.
