Oh My Goodness this is such a sad but wonderful story. I've heard similar stories before. In fact there is a wine from South Africa called the Faithful Hound. It is amazing amazing wine. Try it.

A few years back I was working in an animal friendly office. There was a hospice-foster-cat & two dogs. When the cat began to fall ill and suffer, we had him put to sleep in the office by a vet. There must have been 10 people and we were all crying. My co-workers dog ventured over to sniff Toby's body and then circled the room and gave us all licks and kisses. My dog, sniffed the body of the cat, then walked right over to Toby's dish and ate what was left of his food. We all laughed. Life needs comics and dignitaries.
