As public relations professionals go about rehabilitating Michael Vicks image, his old place is getting a makeover, too.
Inside the home that once served as headquarters forBad Newz Kennels in Surry County, Virginia, the quarterbacks cream colored carpet has been ripped up and replaced with rubberized flooring; his oversized tiled shower is now being used for doggie baths.

A non-profit group of animal activists has purchased Michael Vicks former home in Surry County, Virginia.
The house that was once used to train fighting dogs will soon be a rehabilitation center for dogs, mostly ones that have been chained or penned.
The group called Dogs Deserve Better was based in Pennsylvania and has just moved its headquarters to Vicks former home.

The first eight rescue dogs have arrived at the home once owned by Michael Vick in Surry County, Virginia.
Once the home base of a dog fighting operation, the 15-acre property was bought in May by Dogs Deserve Better, which hopes to rehabilitate hundreds of formerly chained, penned or abused dogs there.

Ive never liked the open letter. Its a cheapgimmick that allows the writer to pretend to be writing to someone when youre really taking aim at them. Its a feeble attempt toget the attention of someone who neither knows who you are, nor cares what you have to say. It lets you, the writer,ride on their celebrity while youmake a point, ostensibly to them, but really to the world. Open letters are highly presumptuous, and a little rude.

Its a done deal: Dogs Deserve Better, a nonprofit group that fightschaining, penning and other forms of cruelty to dogs,has closed on Michael Vicks old house the former headquarters of the quarterbacks dogfighting operation, Bad Newz Kennels.
Dogs Deserve Better plans to turn the property in Surry County, Virginia, into a center to rehabilitate and resocialize dogs that have been mistreated and abused, with thehope of finding them adoptive homes.

Im not sure why I wanted to visit 1915 Moonlight Road maybe for the same reason people visit Nazi death camps, Ground Zero and other scenes of slaughter.
Maybe its in part to pay respects to those who died and suffered, in part to remind ourselves of how evil man can be that whole business about keeping history fresh enough in our minds that we dont allow the mistakes of the past to be repeated.
Maybe (last maybe, I promise) thats also why you still find Michael Vick stories on ohmidog! and...
