Economic times are ruff for everybody out there; dogs are no exception. If you happen to be a pup in Berlin, however, you can at least be assured of a hot meal to gnaw on.

They’ve opened up a soup kitchen that serves the four-legged companions of those who have fallen on hard times. The kitchen is called Animal Board and was founded by Claudia Hollm, who says, “Nowadays people underestimate dogs. They are incredibly important for those who lack social contact with other humans.”

Many animal-food companies have realized the wonderful service this kitchen is providing and have lent their support to the efforts.

Lets hope this idea crosses the pond soon. It’s hard to panhandle when your paws can’t grip a sign.
